Subject :  Regarding:Exploiting a veteran and Osage Elder

Mr. Hamilton's disgust with being exploited by "Chief Gray and his cohorts" is just one example of a growing concern surrounding Chief Gray and his inner circle - the "innies." Many of their group activities are attracting attention as suspicious, other activities like those here with Mr. Hamilton can clearly seen to anybody that sill cares about the tribe, as very bad for the tribe.

Yet, I've NOT seen nor heard of any further action on the Chief's part, to right this wrong. I ask, does Chief Gray even care? If not, then what does this mean for the rest of us? Are we simply, "outties" until which time we're temporarily needed for the personal benefit of Chief Gray? It sure seems so from here.

I heard some of the "talk" just before his failed attempt at a response to the Fairfax Chief. I also also heard, that Chief Gray didn't even write what he signed his name to here nor did any other Osage write it. If the talk is correct, and I believe it is,  Chief Gray's reply here was written by an outsider and I'm not referring to his wife/x-wife.

Apparently Chief Gray,  like the President, chooses to remain oblivious to the many deep and well-formed Osage thoughts and concerns of the Osage members that he "supposedly" represents.

And also like the President, Chief Gray seems to listen to only a few hand-picked "cohorts" for the very reason that they tell him just what he wants to hear. I wonder what Chief Gray wants to hear? Perhaps we should know this, for the next time we need to get his attention.

An OUTTIE and proud of it!

That picture in Jim Gray's campaign literature was surely an attention getter because I read all the information about this honored elder    In fact, that picture and  accompanying detail about Mr Hamilton is and was the only thing I remembered about Chief Gray.  I was puzzled by this picture and wondered at the time if Mr Hamilton knew of the use his image was put to.   Now I see my doubt was justified.  Chief Gray should be ashamed.

The article on your left and right was printed in the Fairfax Chief, Thursday September 21, 2006.

My thoughts:

Exploiting a veteran and Osage Elder like this indicates the lowering of higher standards (example for us follow) that we have passively come to accept from our leaders.

Mr. Hamilton's speaking out serves to remind us of a much higher standards set by our Osage Ancestors! There is no passive acceptance of lowered standards to be found in Mr. Hamilton's example.

The choice is yours Osage. You can simply let Mr. Hamilton's words land on your deaf uncaring ears by following example set by "Chief Gray and his cohorts" or you can follow Mr. Hamilton's example, speak up and call for a higher standard!

I find nothing in Chief Gray's reply to indicate he want's to correct any wrong doing. Perhaps he does not see his actions as wrong! It appears that the Chief's reply is ignoring his own actions altogether, and instead is focusing on other Osages  who "ostracize another over their political views." Does Chief Gray really believe that we are so easily fooled? Perhaps, he believes that we will follow his example and ignore his wrong doings altogether.

I wonder . . .  what do the actions of other Osages who made snide remarks have to do with the initial actions of "Chief Gray and his cohorts" that brought all of this into being?  Looks to me like they exploited Mr. Hamilton, not just once or twice but several times? I suspect that some Osage have been snide because they are simply following his lead. After all HE IS THE CHIEF!

What will it take for Mr. Hamilton to feel whole again? Only Mr. Hamilton could the answer to this question.

I would like to think that "Chief Gray, Julia Karen Lookout, and Paula Stabler" will each personally ask Mr. Hamilton this very question.  I would also like to think that each will then go about doing exactly what Mr. Hamilton asks of each. Then we will have an example, not of a perfect Chief, but instead a Chief that is capable of correcting his mistakes as quickly as is possible.

This is an example I would follow rather than pretending that anyone, even the Chief, is perfect!

Should Chief Gray, Julia Karen Lookout, and Paula Stabler straightforwardly correct their mistakes, then a better standard will be set for those who made the "snide remarks" to Mr. Hamilton. Perhaps then we will have a Chief who will set an example that we all might want to follow.

The lawsuit claiming the government mismanaged oil and gas assets could have far-reaching implications.

Principal Chief Jim Gray (center) announces at a press conference Friday on the steps of the Osage Nation headquarters in Pawhuska that a court has decided the federal government mismanaged oil and gas assets from tribal land. The ruling is expected to clear the way for millions of dollars in payments to the tribe. Gray is flanked by Archie Mason (left), Osage Nation Congress speaker, and Jewell Purcell (right), Osage Nation Mineral Council chairwoman.
